Notified Body

An independent organisation designated by a national authority to assess the conformity of medical devices before market launch.

Notified Bodies conduct audits of a manufacturer's QMS and review technical documentation or clinical evaluation reports under the EU MDR and IVDR. Lower-risk devices (Class I) can often be self-certified, but moderate to high-risk devices must receive certification from a Notified Body to obtain a CE Mark.
